Dressed for success

I just wanted to write one quick time to show off my new threads. It's a hand-me-down from my friend, Fin, in California. But it's a pretty sweet look.

This week's been good. We went to eat Sunday at Ted's Montana Grill, and I had fun feeding our friend, Ms. Sara, some Cheerios. She seemed to like them -- she kept eating them when I gave them to her!

Sunday night was cool, too. We had a deacon ordination service at church, and I got to hang out most of the time in the LIFE Center for the service. I played with a few of my toys while the band performed. They're pretty good. Mr. Justin is going to teach me how to play drums one day.

I think my illnesses have gone away. I'm feeling much better now, so thanks for the thoughts and prayers. Gotta run ...

Ear, nose and belly -- yuck!

I'm going to make this quick due to the late hour and due to the "blah" feeling that I have. I got to hang out once again with Memaw and Paw for a week while Mommy and Papa went skiing, and I am confident I had just as much fun here at home as they did in Aspen. It was so much fun to hang with the great-grandparents and just be cool for a weekend. Grammy came down for a quick stay, and I also had a good time playing with her (I nearly forgot that Mommy and Papa were gone! Shhhhhh, don't tell them).

Anyway, this week has been kind of crazy. Papa's birthday was Thursday and we didn't do anything. But on Friday, a bunch of us from church surprised him at Mt. Fuji, a Japanese restaurant. He thought it was just going to be a small dinner. But noooooooooo! He truly was fooled, and I must say that Mommy pulled that one off pretty well. We met Papa in the parking lot and walked in together, and he had no idea everyone was waiting on him. There, we had black baloons (he turned 30!), a colorful top hat and blinking boa to go around his neck, and we had a black cookie cake that turned everybody's mouth black (although they spelled Papa's name wrong on the cake)! It was a great time ... until I started feeling tired and cranky. OK, OK ... I'm the party pooper.

On Saturday, I made a trip to the doctor. Found out I have:

-- Ear infection
-- Sinus infection
-- Stomach virus

Yeah. Fun, huh? I've been feeling OK, but my eyes started getting red on Friday and by Saturday they had this yucky stuff coming from them. All of it was a product of the ear infection. So I have some medicine I'm taking, and I actually feel OK.

Proof: While Mommy was getting her hair cut Saturday evening, Papa and I played and had tons of fun. I played in a cardboard box and hid from him, and then I sat around with Mace Dogg. It was a good time.

So, if this is what sick feels like, it's really not that bad. Of course, I'm a pretty tough dude.

A shiner and a fat lip

I know, I know. It's been a while since I blogged. But this guy's been busy since the new year began.

Let's just say 2009 hasn't gotten off to the start I anticipated. But we're still hanging in there, and it can only get better. A lot is in store for this year, or so says Mommy and Papa. So we'll see.

I did get to have a long weekend with Grammy and Memaw and Paw and Memaw Pate. That was a blast. It was cool to just hang with the grandparents without Mommy and Papa for a change. Grammy and Memaw and Paw met me at Cracker Barrel, along with Nana and Uncle Matt. We had a good breakfast, then I headed to E-town for a few days. Ate banana and strawberry muffins. Spent the night at Memaw and Paw's. It was a grand ol' time. Paw thought he would be sly and stack up my blocks while I was napping. But I quickly showed that what goes up must come down -- I whacked his tower down with a few swipes of the hand. Now that was fun!

Since my trip, I haven't done much. I'm expecting Memaw and Paw again in a few days when Mommy and Papa go skiiiiiiiiiiing. Yuppies!

Anyway ...

I suppose you can say I got my first black eye AND my first busted lip -- all within a few days. Not sure how I got the shiner. And it's not really black. More of a yellowish color. The lip, well, that was from going face-first into one of my toys. Started bleeding immediately and wouldn't stop. I call them battle scars.

So today I celebrate. Monday was my 13-month birthday! Happy B-day to me. What did I do? Not much; it was just a regular day, but I did get to sleep just a little bit later with Papa. Some people say I look like him.
